How we use your information

This privacy notice tells you what to expect when Chester Pride collects personal information. This applies to information we collect about:

  • Visitors to our website;
  • Members of the public who contact us via email; and
  • Volunteers of Chester Pride

Visitors to our website

When someone visits www.chesterpride.co.uk we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site.

This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

If we do want to collect personally identifiable information through our website, we will be up front about this. We will make it clear when we collect personal information and will explain what we intend to do with it.

Online Forms

We collect information volunteered by members of the public relating to stewards, market stalls, parade entries and sponsors.  This online form collects a contact name, email address and any further information about their request.

This data is solely used by Chester Pride and is not passed on to any third party.  The data is only processed as per the instructions of the public e.g. parade entry request.

People who contact us via social media

Our social media is managed by the Social Media Co-ordinator at Chester Pride.  Members of the public who send a direct message are directed to send an email to [email protected] with their name, email address and contact details.

This data is solely used by Chester Pride and is not passed on to any third party.  The data is only processed as per the instructions of the public e.g. parade entry request.

People who email us

Chester Pride uses a Google Mail account.  To read Google Mail Program Policies please click here.

Emails sent to Chester Pride will only be shared with other Chester Pride volunteers and not outside of the organisation.  Personal information required will be a contact name and email address.

Please be aware that you have a responsibility to ensure that any email you send is within the bounds of the law.

Contacting Chester Pride

Anyone who contacts Chester Pride will be asked to provide a contact name and email address this applies to vendors, stewards, market traders, parade entrants.  Details will not be shared outside of the organisation.

For services used by Chester Pride including vendors e.g. security, stages etc an invoice will be required which may hold information such as name, business address, contact number, however this would not be shared outside of the organisation.  

Chester Pride Committee members, volunteer opportunity Chester Pride committee applicants

A contact name and email address will be needed for all committee members/volunteer applicants.  This will not be shared outside of the organisation.

Directors of Chester Pride will be required to provide further information such as current role (outside of Chester Pride) which will be shared publicly on the Companies House and Charity Commission website. 

How long we keep your data

If you contact us as an individual or organisation, we will only hold onto your data for as long as necessary to provide services to you, or to comply with our legal obligations.

We may ask if you want to be put onto a mailing list that is relevant to you, in which case we will keep just your name and contact email address for this purpose. You are free to unsubscribe from this mailing list at any time, and we will check that you still want to be on our mailing list every 24 months.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have rights as an individual which you can exercise in relation to the information we hold about you.

Individuals can find out if we hold any personal information by making a ‘subject access request’. If we do hold information about you we will:

  • give you a description of it;
  • tell you why we are holding it;
  • tell you who it could be disclosed to; and
  • let you have a copy of the information in an intelligible form.

Complaints or queries

Chester Pride tries to meet the highest standards when collecting and using personal information. For this reason, we take any complaints we receive about this very seriously. We encourage people to bring it to our attention if they think that our collection or use of information is unfair, misleading or inappropriate.
